Azzalure® Botulinum Information
Over time because we smile and frown a lot, dynamic facial lines and wrinkles develop. Botulinum Toxin is used to soften the appearance of these facial lines and wrinkles. This procedure is now the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment throughout the world. It is a prescription only drug and should only be administered by individuals with the appropriate training and qualifications.
The treatment works by temporarily blocking communication between the nerve and muscle and results in softening facial lines. Areas treated include frown lines (glabella), forehead and crows feet.
A detailed medical history is taken to establish that there are no contraindications to treatment. Pregnant and breastfeeding women cannot have the treatment and those with certain illnesses and on certain medications are also exlcuded. After a careful assessment the treatment itself involves the injection of minute amounts of Botulinum Toxin in the specific anatomical regions. The injections are almost painless. Treatment takes approximately 15 minutes.
Common side effects include mild redness and swelling though these will settle after a few hours. Occasionally bruising occurs. Headaches have been reported.
The effects are normally visible from 3 to 14 days after treatment and will last on average 3-4 months. After this time re-treatment will be necessary to maintain the effects.
Azzalure® is a safe non-surgical treatment which softens facial lines and wrinkles to create a more youthful appearance.

Over time there is a gradual loss of collagen which results in the development of static lines and wrinkles on the face. Dermal fillers offer a non-surgical cosmetic treatment of these static lines and are one of the most popular aesthetic treatments performed in facial rejuvenation.
Fillers are clear gels that contain clinically refined non animal hyaluronic Acid. This is a naturally occuring substance in our body which helps hydrate and add volume to our skin. It decreases with age. Two of the most scientifically researched dermal fillers are Juvérderm ULTRA and Restylane and are two of the most popular dermal fillers currently used. Areas treated include the nasolabial folds vertical lip lines, oral commissures and the marionette lines.
Dermal fillers should only be administered by individuals with the appropriate training and qualifications.
A detailed medical history is taken to establish that there are no contraindications to treatment. Pregnant and breastfeeding women cannot have dermal fillers nor those who are susceptible to keloid scars. Those with an allergy to lignocaine (a local anaesthestic) cannot have Juvérderm ULTRA. After a careful assessment the area to be treated has a local anaesthetic cream applied to reduce any discomfort. Following this the dermal filler is injected into the specific anatomical region. Treatment takes approximately 20 minutes.
Common side effects include redness and swelling though these will settle after 1-2 days. Bruising can also occur.
The effects are immediate and can last up to 12 months. After this period re-treatment may be necessary.
Dermal fillers offer a safe non surgical treatment to replace lost volume in static facial lines.
